Research Designs

The introduction to the paper at least 5 sentences with at least one in-text citation and a fully stated purpose.

Research Questions

This section contains at least three research questions. One main research question and two sub questions. The questions must be a bulleted list with a brief introduction.

  • One
  • Two
  • Three

Basic Research Designs

This section contains the basic types of research designs you plan to use for your research questions: descriptive research, quantitative or mixed method: experimental (quasi), case studies, etc. … must be at least three to four fully formed paragraphs (at least 5 sentences in length). And include at least one in-text citation. This is different from weeks 5 paper, research types. Please DO NOT talk about the types of research. Here you will utilize the information taught in week 8 webinar. In the first paragraph, discuss the different quantitative designs (correlational, experimental, etc.), when are these designs used? In the second paragraph, discuss the different qualitative designs (ethnography, phenomenological, etc.). When are these designs used? In the third paragraph, discuss mixed method designs. When are these designs used? Fourth paragraph you could compare and contrast the different designs or discuss which designs you are going to use for your topic choice and why.

Additional Research Questions

This section of the assignment contains all corresponding questions (what else do you want to know besides your three initial research questions from above) used with your basic designs…. must be at least one fully formed paragraph (at least 5 sentences in length).

Analytical Methods

Provides the analytical methods you plan to use based on the type of research chosen in week 5 paper: quantitative – statistical or inferential statistics, through surveys; qualitative – interviews, focus groups, observation (themes, patterns, and connections), must be at least three fully formed paragraphs (at least 5 sentences in length). And include at least one in-text citation.

In paragraph one, give an overview of your chosen research method. Ex:

For my Week 5 paper, I selected a qualitative research approach to explore the personal experiences and perspectives of participants related to [insert your topic]. This method is appropriate for gaining a deeper understanding of complex human behaviors, motivations, and social interactions that cannot be easily quantified. By using techniques such as interviews and observations, I aim to collect rich, detailed narratives. These tools allow for the capture of participants’ emotions, attitudes, and lived experiences in a natural setting. The qualitative approach also supports flexibility and responsiveness in the data collection process, which enhances the authenticity of the results.

In paragraph two, discuss an analytical method(s) to be used. Ex:

To analyze the data collected, I will use thematic analysis, a method that involves identifying, analyzing, and interpreting patterns or themes within qualitative data. After transcribing the interviews and observational notes, I will code the data by grouping similar ideas or statements together. From these codes, I will develop broader themes that capture the essence of participants responses. This process allows for the recognition of meaningful connections across different participants and situations.

In paragraph three, discuss the importance of the analytical method(s). Ex:

Using thematic analysis ensures that the voices of participants remain central to the research findings. This method allows me to interpret not just what participants say, but how and why they express certain views, leading to a more comprehensive understanding of the topic. Identifying themes through interviews or observations helps validate findings by highlighting consistency. Furthermore, this analytical method supports the exploration of nuanced insights that might be overlooked in a purely statistical approach. Ultimately, the use of qualitative analysis enhances the depth and credibility of the research, making it a valuable tool for examining complex social phenomena.

Conclusion

The conclusion to the paper is at least 5 sentences, summarizes at least 3 key points, and has one in-text citation.
