Assignment: Midterm Exam

The goal of this assignment is to apply what you have learned thus far in thinking about issues within the field of art history as related to Nonwestern/Western objects of visual culture, critical visual thinking, and formal analysis writing skills. As such, this assignment asks you to focus on both works of art you chose from the JSTOR database.

Instructions

You are to write a 23-page formal analysis in which you compare both works you have chosen in JSTOR. Be sure to reference and cite the textbook and one other reading from this course in your paper in proper CMS-NB.

  • Writing demonstrates clarity, organization, and correct grammar, syntax, spelling, and application of the Chicago Manual of Style.

Assignment Formatting Requirements:

Your paper should:

  • Be a minimum of 2-3 pages, not including the cover page, image, or bibliography.
  • Be submitted in 12 pt. Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins, and in a Word document (.docx) or Google Docs format only. This is to ensure you can insert footnotes.
  • Be well organized and include minimal typos and/or grammatical errors.
  • Include a properly formatted image of the work you discuss in CMS-NB.
  • Include properly formatted in-text citations to the required reading, and the reading should be properly formatted and listed in the bibliography.
