Section 1 of Assignment 3: Create an outline for your PIP Literature Review (5 points)

1. Create an outline of the literature review section of chapter 2 of your PIP. It should include the key topics and subtopics, independent and dependent variables and the population. Think general to specific.
2. Refer to pp. 1-3 of the Week 3 Literature Reviews+Theory in Research Info Sheet.pdf, but be more specific about what you will look for in the literature.
3. What online library, databases, key terms, inclusion and exclusion criteria will you use for your literature search? Describe your PIPs target population(s). Identify and describe your PIPs independent and dependent variables.
4. At the bottom of your outline write a paragraph or two on how you might incorporate theory into your PIP where would it fit? What type of theory would be appropriate. Are there any specific nursing theories or learning theories you are thinking of? How will they help you design your project?

9. Alvarez et al. (2020). Childrens and parents views on hospital contact isolation: A qualitative study to highlight childrens perspectives.
10. Semi-structured, open-ended interviews with eight hospitalized children were used to assess their experiences of being placed in isolation. Where possible, the childrens parents also completed written surveys to assess parental perspectives on their childs experiences.
11. Examination of the parentchild dyads elucidated some discordance between parents and childrens perspectives on how children experienced their isolation, on what the childrens preferred activities were while in isolation, and how much children understood about the reasons they were in isolation. This study supports earlier studies that suggest that the benefits of isolation procedures may be outweighed by how negatively isolation is experienced by patients, particularly when the patients are children. It also highlights the need for child-friendly isolation signs.
