Assignment Instructions:

You are on a committee to determine if the local community would support a bond referendum to increase taxes for your school. You need to gain an understanding of the temperature or overall feelings of the community. Write a 1,000-word essay on the sampling procedure that you would follow to assess the situation. Use your local school as an example and in your write up, include the following areas:

• Describe the makeup of your school and community (include cultural description and rough population #’s)
• How could you address this issue using: simple random sample, systematic sample, stratified sample, convenience sample (briefly describe the process that you could use for each).
• Of the options listed above, what would be your best choice and why?
• What is the ideal sample size?
• What sample bias will you have to guard against?
• Include an APA appropriate title page, the body of your essay, and an APA appropriate reference page.
