Disease Selection

Choose one disease from the following list:

Assignment Requirements

Prepare a written paper (1000-1500 words) that includes the following sections. Students must follow the provided template to structure their assignment.

1. Pathophysiology

Provide a detailed explanation of the chosen diseases pathophysiology. This should include:

• Underlying mechanisms of the disease
• Cellular and molecular changes
• Physiological processes contributing to the disease state

2. Nursing Diagnoses

• Identify and clearly state at least two (2) relevant nursing diagnoses related to the chosen disease.
• Ensure these diagnoses are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) when applicable.

3. Current Treatment

• Describe the current pharmacological treatments used to manage the disease.
• Include mechanisms of action, common medications, and considerations for administration.
• Discuss any potential side effects and contraindications.

4. Scholarly Support and Referencing

• Include a minimum of two (2) references in APA 7th edition format:
• One (1) reference must be from a peer-reviewed nursing journal published within the last five (5) years.
• One (1) reference must be from one of the assigned course textbooks.
• Additional scholarly nursing journals, textbooks, or reputable scholarly websites may be used to enhance your work.
• Wikipedia and other non-scholarly sources are not acceptable references.

Formatting and Submission

• The paper should be formatted in APA 7th edition style.
• Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced.
• Include a title page and a reference page (not included in the word count).
• Submit the assignment as a Word document (.docx) in the designated dropbox in D2L.
