Assignment 1: Organizational Issue Case Study (Maximum of 20 points) NOTE: This Case Study is used in Assignment #4, so begin Assignment #4 once Assignment #1 has been submitted. Please select an organizational event, issue, or situation drawing on your professional experience or academic interests for your case study. You are encouraged to develop your case study around rural and diverse populations. You should maintain a narrow focus for the case study, and it will be used in Assignment 4. The purpose of the case study is to provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding by integrating the four frames in Assignment 4. Note: It’s not necessary to be familiar with the entire textbook for this assignment. Please use generic descriptions (school district, school, college, or university) and professional titles (principal, superintendent, faculty members, vice president, chancellor) instead of the name of the organization or an individual. Case studies require clear, concise descriptions, key information presented logically, developing a framework for analysis, analyzing the issues involved, and describing the findings (solutions or changes) and recommendations in a scholarly paper. The textbook, along with your outside research from peer-reviewed academic journals, should provide the basis for possible solutions, changes, and initial recommendations. When developing the case description, you are the analyst. It is important to describe what happened without introducing your opinion. Elements of the Case Study 1. Introduction to the organization and the issue or situation included in the case study 2. Background and description of the organization and the circumstances or primary cause leading to the issue or situation 3. Solutions and/or changes implemented, and if they were considered to be successful or not 4.
