For your workbook entry this week you are required to select one of the following concepts to discuss: Self -esteem Self-awareness First Impressions Attributions we make for others behaviour (remember this one is impacted by culture). Workbook Activity Part 2 Barriers to Effective Interpersonal Communication (300 words+/- 10%) There are many and varied factors that impact the clarity and effectiveness of our communication with others. For your workbook entry this week you are required to focus upon your own personal or behavioural factors impact the effective communication of your message. These factors may include, but are not limited to your : Values and attitudes Word choice and clarity Organisational role Workbook Activity Part 3 The Intricacies of Rapport Development in Interpersonal Relationships (300 words+/- 10%) Rapport is essential to the development of effective communication and interpersonal relationships whether these be counsellor and client, or teacher and students. Without this ingredient of rapport, we are unable to establish an effective connection with others or communicate in a meaningful manner. Page 2 of 7 COM101_Assessment 1_Brief For your workbook entry this week you are required to focus upon how you personally develop rapport at the beginning of a relationship (personal or professional) with others. Select one of the following areas to focus on: Conversation skills the art of small talk. Self-disclosure Strategies and skills used to establish rapport select from those discussed in subject materials that you use most often. Your workbook will be assessed based on the following criteria: Clear understanding of theoretical concepts Selection of an appropriate personal or professional example Analysis of chosen exemplar in relation to the theory Effective communication Referencing Referencing It is essential that you use current APA style for citing and referencing the sources that you use.
