Annotated Bibliography: Write a 1 1/2-2 page, APA formatted paper (excluding title page and references) reflection paper on how you each of the five articles relate to your chosen topic.
Summarize how well you feel these articles relate to your chosen topic and how you believe they might benefit you as you progress towards your capstone project.
One of the more beneficial tools in conducting research is the annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography combines the citations found in the References list at the end of documents in APA format with annotations about each of the sources. For this part of your assignment, you will construct an annotated bibliography using the research articles from your Analyzing Scholarly Research template.
Purpose: An annotated bibliography is a method of organization that is instrumental when constructing a project (including research projects). An effective annotated bibliography is used to compile sources in one place and provide the academic with quick means to access the information provided in each source.
Subject: Your annotated bibliography will contain the sources that you have determined as relevant to your topic. You may come across sources that are not relevant or do not fit the scope of your project while researching. For the purposes of this assignment, only include the ones that are both useful and relevant.
1. Cite the source in proper APA format. The references should be organized in alphabetical order by author just as in an APA References page.
2. Write a brief annotation following the reference that summarizes the source: approximately 3-5 sentences. Do not quote from the source. All of the annotation must be in your own words.
3. In 1 or 2 sentences, describe the sources relevance and significance to your issue.
Limitations: The annotated bibliography is standardized. Your citations must adhere to APA format. This will be one of the central components of the grade for this assignment. Failure to follow APA format exactly will impact your grade.
You must construct the annotations for each source with scholarly and academic language: correct grammatical sentences that successfully recap what each source has to say. Furthermore, you should give details on how each source is relevant to the issue that you have chosen and what it contributes to your knowledge about your issue.
Guidelines to follow when completing this assignment are:
- 5-7 sources of various forms (book, article, website, etc.).
- Adherence to APA format for all citations.
- Sources in alphabetical order.
- Focused and thorough annotations of 100-150 words (approximately 3-5 sentences summarizing the source and approximately 1-2 sentences describing the source’s relevance and significance to your issue).
