CAUSES OF ECONOMIC GROWTH

• The 1920s was a decade of economic prosperity for many Americans.

• Explain what role new industries, international commerce, and mass consumption played in the economic growth of the nation.

• Be sure to follow the format & rules outlined below

• The post includes at least two examples and clearly explain why/how those examples prove your argument.

• Be sure to not only mention specific examples, but also describe how those examples support your argument. Do remember – Our “argument” lives in it’s examples.

The textbook is Give Me Liberty! by Eric Foner– Chapters 19 & 20

Overall Structure

The post must be three paragraphs total.

Each paragraph must be at least five sentences.

Writing should flow smoothly and not feel choppy.

Paragraph 1 Introduction

Provide background information about the topic.

Include the seven ID categories:

Who

What

When

Where

Why

How

Historical significance (why the topic matters)

End the paragraph with a properly formatted thesis statement.

The thesis must: Be one sentence.

Present one clear argument.

Include two reasons that will be defended in the body paragraphs.

Paragraph 2 Defense Paragraph #1

Begin with a strong topic sentence that clearly introduces the analysis.

In one sentence:

Restate the main argument (claim only).

Identify which reason/category is being discussed.

Explain how the examples support the claim.

Include information that clearly supports the argument, not just general history.

Must be at least five sentences and flow well.

Paragraph 3 Defense Paragraph #2

Follow the same structure as Paragraph 2.

Introduce the second reason being defended.

Clearly explain how the evidence supports the argument.

Must be at least five sentences and maintain smooth flow.

Additional Requirements

Include two examples from the text (poetry, art, etc. from the first three chapters).

Include at least two quotes from the book that support the argument.

Briefly analyze the chosen examples.

WRITE MY PAPER
