At some point in your program, you were asked to determine your philosophy of adult education. Students identified and defined their philosophy of adult learning and how best to educate adults. It is important for you, as an adult educator, to be able to describe your philosophy verbally clearly and concisely and in written form within different adult learning contexts.
Philosophy is the critical study of the basic principles and concepts of a particular branch of knowledge, especially with a view to improving or reconstituting. After completing the Philosophy of Adult Education Inventory (Adult Learning Methods, 1990, 1991 with corrections edited by M.W. Gailbraith, Krieger Publishing, Malabar Florida, pp. 59-77) AND reflecting back on your knowledge and experiences gained in the APHE program, you should be able to describe your philosophy of clearly and concisely and practice in adult learning contexts.
Your description should be a PROFESSIONAL piece of writing that you could submit with your resume when applying for a job/promotion in the field of adult, professional or higher education. Draft the paper as if you were presenting your philosophy during a job interview. *** I’ve attached the philosophy inventory. Please use the results to answer
